Woodside Station Complex

Woodside, Queens, New York

This transit hub is located at the intersection of the LIRR Woodside Station and the NYCT 61st Street Station Flushing Line.  The primary project objectives were to extend the LIRR station platforms to accommodate 12-car trains, to rehabilitate the 61st Street and Roosevelt Avenue overpasses, and to provide accessibility throughout the complex.

The elevated stations are stacked, with a common mezzanine sandwiched between, providing all program space, ticket sales, waiting areas, and concessions.  Urbahn’s design provides accessibility to all levels through the introduction of five new elevators and a significantly expanded mezzanine to accommodate increased program requirements.  The design also provided upgrades and replacements to stairs, platforms, and canopies, resulting in a common, coherent visual expression throughout the complex.
