Urbahn was responsible for the master plan and design of this 3-phase residential complex. The full development includes 1,338 new beds in 9 buildings on 25 acres, with landscaped green areas, tennis courts and parking. Our design utilizes economical systems and materials in inventive ways, along with vivid color combinations, to create a modulated and expressive complex. The units are configured as apartment suites of one and two-bed rooms, each apartment including a kitchen, living room, and bathrooms. Phase 1 was executed on an accelerated schedule using a Design-Build delivery system, and included four 3-story apartment buildings accommodating 503 juniors and seniors. An additional five buildings were developed in Phases 2 and 3, adding 835 beds dedicated to graduate students. Serving the entire complex, “The Commons” includes a fitness center, study lounge, print center, offices, and conference rooms.
