NYCT Design-Build Station Renovation Initiative – Package 8

Manhattan and Bronx, New York

Following the success of Package 1, Urbahn’s Design-Build team was awarded Package 8, including three Manhattan and Bronx underground subway stations: 145th Street, 167th Street and 174-175th Street. The project employed the same visual language and many of the same customer amenities that had been employed on the first project, such as entrance canopies, entry totems, control area and platform dashboards, and benches with WiFi chargers. This project was executed on an even more ambitious schedule than the first package, with the stations complete and open to customers within 11 months of contract commencement. The design team developed a series of early packages to facilitate construction on several portions of the project while the design was completed and long-lead items were fabricated off-site.
