Nine Pedestrian Bridges

Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island, New York

Urbahn led a team of specialists in the examination of nine pedestrian bridges, as well as the analysis and recommendations to bring them up to a state of good repair or replace them. The project involved bridge structural engineering, historic preservation, parkland and wetlands permitting, and community outreach.  Our work involved in-depth inspections, surveying, material testing, geotechnical investigations, structural and load-rating analysis, and conceptual design services complying with both NYS Historic Preservation Office and ADA requirements.  Urbahn created innovative, efficient and economical designs coupled with a selection of durable and low maintenance materials that integrate well within the surrounding environment.  Our designs minimize maintenance while preserving and complementing the architecture of the historic bridges.
