About Nusantara, a Global Model for Excellence in Urban Planning

Nusantara is replacing Jakarta as the Indonesian capital city and is planned as an exemplar of livable cities and sustainability. It is located in Kalimantan, Borneo, the city encompasses 990 square miles surrounded by picturesque hills, forest, and a natural bay.  In rapid construction since 2022, with the first government entities relocating there in the second half of 2024, by 2045 the five planned phases will create a capacity for 1.9 million residents as well as attendant commercial, cultural, entertainment, and institutional facilities.  With the government focusing on infrastructure and municipal facilities, approximately 80% of the future development will be implemented on a Public Private Partnership basis with long term ground leases with favorable terms.
