| What We Do |
Our
work encompasses many project types that serve the public – from
educating our youth to healing the sick, providing for a safe and
pleasant commute, workplaces for the knowledge workers of today
and tomorrow and supporting our justice system in providing for
the public safety and security. |
| Special Projects |
For
over forty years, Urbahn has taken on many one-of-a-kind
projects - those that come without a "playbook". These projects
all demand both and ingrained understanding of a client's vision and
the ability to simultaneously think both creatively and analytically.
Their functions can run the gamut from the simple to the very complex.
|
| Historic Preservation |
| Maintaining our cultural heritage while meeting the needs of a modern society is one of the greatest challenges architects face. We have both restored historic edifices and adapted many structures to new and dynamic uses - both increasing their lifespan and giving their communities very important new public facilities. |
| On the Boards |
| Our current work encompasses all our different market segments, includes projects from the $100 thousand to $100 million range. They include new buildings, renovations, restorations, adaptive re-use, interiors, master plans and special studies. |
| Healthcare |
The
demands on our healthcare providers continues to
become more complex. They need to keep up with the latest technological
advances while also warm and comforting settings that enhance the healing
process. |
| Higher Education |
Urbahn
has served numerous colleges and universities by designing academic,
residential and a variety of
support facilities and by providing comprehensive facility audits and
campus master plans. We seek to satisfy the multiple needs of these
institutions, as academic centers, communities and complex, operating
organizations. |
| Science & Research |
| The
needs of our modern society requires the expertise
of our scientific community. We have always maintained strong ties
with these professionals and work closely with them to develop facilities
that will support their needs by integrating
flexible planning with the latest in building technologies and systems. Urbahn's projects have included a range of research facilities from biomedical to sub-atomic in both academic and research environments. |
| Justice |
The
needs for our justice system to provide for a safe and secure society requires the design of special
facilities to support their mission. We understand the whole gamut of issues - from overall
project planning and organization to the details of finishes and furnishings
- that are needed to make these facilities operationally effective
and efficient. |
| Transportation |
Both
as members of the community
and design professionals, we understand the mission of our transportation
agencies - to move people
and goods efficiently and safely. For our work, this means designing
pleasant spaces and easy-to-understand wayfinding. It also means allowing
these
agencies to maintain 24/7 operations through construction - by careful
project planning - and afterwards - by providing facilities that are
easy to maintain and operate.

| K-12 Education |
Almost
from our inception, Urbahn has served educational clients
from early childhood through high school. We appreciate the importance
of their mission: to provide a key element in the development of
tomorrow's citizens. We design facilities that support their educational
mission and provide a stimulating environment for both students and
teachers. |
