Urbahn is providing design
services to upgrade and rehabilitation of six elevated stations (East
Tremont Avenue, 174th
Street, Freeman
Street, Simpson Street, Prospect Avenue, and Jackson Avenue)on the
IRT Line. All six stations opened in 1904, and provide service for
the No.2 and No.5 trains. Jackson Avenue, Prospect Avenue, and Simpson
Street stations have been designated for eligibility in the National
Historic Registry. Project objectives includes:

Improving passenger circulation and safety

Adding and re-organizing NYCT rooms and facilities

Incorporating ADA requirements

Upgrading systems

Repairing the existing structure

Replacing wood components with non-combustible materials
