This project involved
creating a highly functional NJDOT vehicle facility on a highly visible
site
and
housing
functions
from an existing facility being
decommissioned.
The new facility is located on an 11 acre site between
Routes 1 & 9
and Route 78, adjacent to Newark Liberty Airport. A network of internal
roads connects a variety of buildings including a salt storage dome
and a
24 hour fueling depot. The buildings include the Equipment Repair Garage,
the Electrical Maintenance Crew Facility, the Heavy Repair Crew Facility
and the Signs & Lines Crew Facility. The entire complex contains
over 20 vehicle repair bays, several shops, support facilities including
dining and lockers, administrative suites and extensive tool, vehicle
and parts storage areas.
