Urbahn's design for
the David Axelrod Institute replaced an aging accumulation of buildings,
dating back to 1917. The new 235,000 square seven-story facility provides
state-of-the-art laboratory space for one of the busiest public health
laboratories in the country. Animal Services, BioSafety-3 Containment
Labs and an Electron Microscopy Suite are included in this project.
A Conference Center, Research Library and Training Labs are provided
to help instruct visiting laboratory technicians in current and newly
developed clinical analysis techniques.
