In partnership with the
Urban League of Hudson County, the Edison Schools, Inc. was granted
a charter in October 1999 for a school that had to open its doors to
the community by September 2000.
Urbahn determined that modular construction was the only method for
delivering a high-performance classroom building on time. Working
hand-in-hand with several modular construction firms, we developed the
design and
construction documents within four months of the notice-to-proceed,
with early foundation documents going out to bid only three months into
the project.
The new 500-student school contains 20 Grade 1-5 classrooms, two kindergartens,
dedicated classrooms for art, music, science and
computers,
a library,
a large kindergarten playroom and a full administration.
