The numerous site challenges
became the springboard for a design to enhance the educational
and community environment for this new 500-student elementary school.
One-third of the 2.2-acre site had previously been considered unbuildable
due to a rocky precipice on the Broadway side, the area’s main
commercial strip.
Our planning put the bulk of the building on the steep slope, and
thereby reserved the flat land for recreational and parking functions.
The Broadway entrance to the building is used by students and staff;
however its primary function is for community uses: the auditorium,
meeting rooms and cafeteria.
