Orchard Hall, the new 400-bed
residential complex at Farmingdale State
College, is the first significant residential facility
project on the campus in over thirty years. The building was dedicated
in November, 2005
Breaking away from traditional dormitory design, the units are based
on apartment style housing. Freshman units include 2 double bedrooms,
while the Upperclassman units consist of 2 double bedrooms and 2 single
bedrooms - in various layouts, with individualized climate
control and the latest in data/ telecom wiring.
The three-story building is planned around a courtyard with common
building functions located at the corners, allowing for control of
access and better security. The efficient site planning allows for future phases. |
