The design challenge
of the new Science Complex was to create a modern facility
using the latest technology, while adhering to the campus' Georgian
design vocabulary. The building complements the other
Georgian style buildings located on the main campus quadrangle.
The Complex houses the Biology, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry
and Geology Departments. Specilized facilities include Electron Microscopy
Laboratories, a Planetarium, 2 Observatories, Greenhouses and lecture halls
equipped
for multimedia and “distance learning”.
A key feature of the design is the location of common areas where faculty
and students can meet in an informal setting and seminars and conference
can be hosted.
