Urbahn Vice President Leads Panel Discussion on Public/Private Partnerships in Biotechnology Facilities New York, NY - March, 2005 On March 17th, Urbahn Vice President Natale Barranco, AIA, led a panel discussion at the Society of College and University Planning's (SCUP) North Atlantic Regional Conference, held at New York University. Nat's presentation, entitled "Broad Hollow Science Park: Linking Government, Business, and Education" reviewed this successful public/private partnership which has resulting in a viable and growing biotechnology research incubator facility within the campus of Long Island's Farmingdale State University. In a follow-up to his 2001 lecture introducing this groundbreaking project to SCUP, Nat described the evolution of the project from three perspectives: that of the university, its corporate partners, and science park management. Nat was joined in the presentation by Dr. Jonathan Gibraltar, president of Farmingdale State University, Gregory Blyskal, Executive Director of Broad Hollow Science Park and Milena Naymark, Urbahn's lead designer on the project. Dr. Gibraltar announced that, based on the success of the first incubator builidng at the Broad Hollow Bioscience Park, New York State will soon begin construction of a second, 45,000 square foot incubator, known as Academic Incubator Facility 2, also designed by Urbahn Architects.
